Organizing Scrapbooking Stuff

I haven’t had time to scrapbook in quite a while, and I miss it a lot. After finally getting some decent dining room furniture, there’s plenty of space – although my stuff still needs organization. It’s looking unsightly, taking up a large corner of my dining room that is otherwise neat. There’s too much stuff to keep out, so I’ll have to give some thought to what’s important enough to stay in the dining room and what can go in the closet. I’m afraid that when I put things in the closet, I’ll forget about them. Trying to figure out how to deal with that.

I wish organizing the stuff didn’t take so much time. Although I enjoy organizing in general, spending time organizing my scrapbooking materials really takes time away from actual scrapbooking. And I’m never satisfied! There are often organizational questions to deal with ranging from broad issues, such as whether to organize my stickers by size or theme, to niggling little specific questions. How to store my roll of Mrs. Grossman’s border stickers is definitely a niggler. The dang thing doesn’t fit anywhere! I may end up just cutting them into foot-long sections for easier storage.

Despite my organizational woes, I need and want to do some scrapbooking soon!

  1. Editing is the key. Editing is a new word I learned froma designer for throwing stuff out. Look at the scrapbook materials and find the things that you don't plan to use and give them away. (I bet a local school would be happy). Another idea is to segregate supplies by project. Did you buy these stickers, this paper and this new tool for this paroject? Put them all together in a bag or box and label them. Finally, I think it is good to go to your storage place and look at all the things in there each time you go to scrapbook.

Glad to hear you got the dining room furniture. FINALLY!!!
